After a year with VT-2 in the training department, Capt. Shortly after his promotion, Captain Yates received orders to Pensacola, FL to be a Flight Instructor. Upon return to CONUS, 1 st Lt Yates was assigned to MAG-29 as the Assistant Training Officer and Nuclear, Biological, & Chemical Warfare Officer. After completing advanced training in the UH-1N (Huey) 1 st Lt Yates was transferred to HML-268 where he was sent for Logistics and Embarkation Training and then attached to HMH-362 for a six month Med Cruise. Receiving his Wings (designation as a Naval Aviator) on April 1, 1976, 1 st Lieutenant Yates received orders to the Naval Air Station, New River, NC with HML-167.
After graduation from the University of South Florida in 1974, 2 nd Lieutenant Yates received orders to The Basic School followed by orders to Naval Flight Training in Pensacola, Florida.
After three years in the Reserves Corporal Yates applied for the Platoon Leaders Class and attended Officer Candidate School. Private Yates enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve on Augat the Amphibious Tractor Battalion Unit in Tampa, Florida. Since 2013, Attorney Yates continues to act as of counsel on occasion. Attorney Yates’ practice focuses on Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, and Business Law. After five years with a Hyannis Law firm, Attorney Yates opened his own practice April of 2004. Lt Col Yates obtained his JD from the New England School of Law and began the practice of law in 1999.
